Creating an Office Content Template

This feature requires the Office Output license

Documill allows to generate documents not only in PDF format but also in MS Office formats such as DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX.

With the MS Office formats, the process involves two essential template files:

  • An online (HTML) template for managing the workflow

  • And an Office Content Template in DOCX, XLSX, or PPTX formats to manage the contents of the template.

The advantages of using MS Office templates are:

  • Quick and effortless template creation: The existing template document is simply uploaded and it’s ready to be used as a template and customised further if required (e.g. including dynamic data fields).

  • Intuitive document generation process: When an end user generates a document based on the template, editing and formatting the document is done just like any other MS Office document, in the familiar Office interface.

  • Directly saved to Salesforce: With the Documill Office Add-in, the need to manually upload and save Office documents to Salesforce disappears. Users can save the documents after editing to Salesforce under the correct place with just a click.
